Aussie Acts Unite for Hoodie Weather Shows

Some of Australia’s most exciting up and coming acts will join forces this July for the Hoodie Weather tour. The all ages shows will feature sets from The Never Ever, Nine Sons of Dan, A Sleepless Melody, Way with Words, and With Confidence.

After successful shows in New York City to support their new EP Ghosts and Ghouls, Sydney’s The Never Ever are keen to get back in front of local audiences.  No doubt Melbourne’s A Sleepless Melody will be just as keen, as they’ve spent a quiet few months writing new material. After supporting the likes of Yellowcard, Simple Plan, and Good Charlotte in the last 12 months, Gold Coast’s Nine Sons of Dan are in fine form. Way with Words and With Confidence are newer names on the scene, but they’re also bound to impressions with their indie pop sounds.

The fun kicks off in Sydney on July 5 before traveling to major capital cities around the country. Tickets are on sale now through Oztix.

5 July 2013 – The Brewhouse, Sydney,
7 July 2013 – Studio 454, Brisbane
11 July 2013 – HQ, Perth (Nine Sons Of Dan and With Confidence not appearing)
12 July 2013 – Fowlers Live, Adelaide
14 July 2013 – Wrangler Studios, Melbourne

The Never Ever Give Us Deja Vu

The Never Ever have created the kind of epic song that makes young girls swoon with their latest single “Déjà vu.” The track isn’t officially released until New Year’s Eve but with the video already on YouTube, we can take an early listen.

I must admit, I wasn’t so sure about this one when I started to listen to it. The vocals were a bit whiny, the production a bit overblown, and the whole thing just a little too earnest. But somewhere along the way I got swept up in it all. I guess no matter how old we get, we never really lose the part of ourselves that’s still a squealing teenager!

No doubt there’ll be plenty of those when The Never Ever take this song on the road. They’ve scored the support slot on the Diviney tour in January, which will no doubt earn them a new legion of young fans. After that it’s off to New York where they’ll start recording with a big name producer. It sounds like there’s big things to come from this band!

The Never Ever Rock Out with “Breathe”

Supporting Simple Plan didn’t just put The Never Ever in front of some of the biggest crowds of their career. It also led to a chance meeting with Pete from Epik Films, the man the band enlisted to direct and produce the music video for their new single “Breathe.”

The clip is a sophisticated and darkly dramatic accompaniment for the title track from The Never Ever’s most recent album. The band worked closely with Pete to see their vision, realised during a Melbourne traffic jam, come to life. Are you impressed with what you see?

The Never Ever Tour Times Two

The Never Ever will circle Australia a few times in the coming months to support the release of their highly anticipated EP Breathe, which hits stores today.

Sydney’s electro power pop quintet will give fans some time to become acquainted with the EP’s five songs, including the single “Love’s Got Me Tipsy,” before they hit the road on their Remember To Breathe Tour. Once the headlining shows wraps up there’ll be just a little breathing room before they join Simple Plan on their upcoming Aussie dates.

The Never Ever Launch Single on a Boat

I’m probably too old to be falling in love with them, but try as I might I can’t resist the charms of The Never Ever and their brand new single “At Sixes and Sevens.”

This simple but ridiculously catchy slice of power pop is the first track to come from The Never Ever’s forthcoming EP, Breathe. That disc won’t hit record store shelves next April, but until then we’ve got the single to tide us over.

The Never Ever will also launch the “At Sixes and Sevens” for hometown fans on the Rocks Rhythm Boat in Sydney Harbour on February 12. That’s one of the more unusual spots I’ve heard for a single launch so it should be a night to remember.
