Small Mercies Rock USA

Small Mercies made a big impression on Australia with their ARIA-nominated single “Innocent,” and they’re hoping for similar success in the United States.

The Brissie lads have played some high-profile gigs at legendary venues like Los Angeles’ House of Blues and Hollywood’s Roxy Theatre. They even made an appearance at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival.

But they’ll be home soon for a string of shows to promote the release of their debut album Beautiful Hum. You can grab a copy when it hits stores on 24 May, which should be just enough time for you to learn all the lyrics before the gigs.

Veronicas Head Back to US

The Veronicas made a big splash on the American market when they released their debut album, The Secret Life Of… in 2005. Now they’ve headed back to the States to wow them again.

Their latest single Untouched is all over US radio, and they’re going to back up this publicity with some hot shows. If you’re on the East Coast you can catch them at New York’s Hiro Ballroom on Thursday, while fans on the West Coast can see the twins at Los Angeles’ The Roxy on April 2.

Jess’ main squeeze Azaria and his band The Follow will support the girls on these very special shows, and the sisters can’t wait.

“It’s cool because we are not usually two bands that you’re match up together,” Jess told The Sunday Telegraph. “It is going to be so much fun.”

Delta Dumped By US Label

Delta Goodrem’s bid to break into the US market has faced a major setback after she was dumped by the American arm of SonyBMG.

The record label had originally planned to release Innocent Eyes and Mistaken Identity as a double album. However now, according to The Sunday Telegraph, they claim Delta is not a viable act in America.

But Delta’s not going to let that stop her. She’s apparently in talks with other labels, and is likely to sign with Universal.

“I strongly believe I’ll have a career there one day,” she told The Sunday Telegraph. “I certainly haven’t admitted defeat. I feel I haven’t even started the battle.

“I’m completely new over there … it doesn’t matter that I’ve sold records anywhere else. You have to be a new artist, take the good with the bad, build strong bonds, with the people you’re working with.”
