Warner Music Australia Makes Virtual Lego House for The Big Issue

Warner Music Australia has created a virtual Lego House to celebrate Ed Sheeran’s Australian tour, which kicks off this Saturday.

This is more than a mere marketing stunt though. The Lego House looks to raise funds and awareness of The Big Issue. This independent charity organisation creates job opportunities for homeless, marginalised, and disadvantaged people around the country.

When you “like” The Big Issue on Facebook you can add a virtual brick to the Lego House. Warner Music Australia will donate $1 to The Big Issue for every brick added to the house. Of course contributing will make you feel all warm and fuzzy, but you might also win a big Ed Sheeran prize. Warner will give one lucky virtual builder return flights to Sydney, tickets to Ed’s sold out Sydney show, accommodation, and a meet and greet when Ed performs on Sunrise next Tuesday.

Many of the Ed Sheeran shows around the country are sold out, but there are still limited tickets available for some of the following dates.

23 February 2013 – Challenge Stadium, Perth (SOLD OUT)
26 February 2013 – Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Adelaide
28 February 2013 – WIN Entertainment Centre, Wollongong
1 March 2013 – Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney (SOLD OUT)
2 March 2013 – Riverstage, Brisbane (SOLD OUT)
4 March 2013 – Festival Hall, Melbourne
5 March 2013 – Festival Hall, Melbourne (SOLD OUT)
6 March 2013 – Festival Hall, Melbourne (SOLD OUT)

Warner Music’s Insane Christmas Competition

I don’t ordinarily promote other people’s competitions on this blog, but this one was so cool that I just couldn’t resist. It’s also pretty timely with most of us gazing at empty wallets after all that Christmas shopping.

Warner Music Australia is giving one lucky person a copy of every single album released in 2011. That’s a whole lot of CDs, more than many people probably have in their entire collections!

To be in with a shot just head to Warner’s Facebook page, click on the “win” tab and leave your details. If only winning the thing was that simple! Entry is open to Aussie residents who get their entry in before the end of January 14. Best of luck everybody!

Rock On This Australia Day

Warner Music will release one of the best rock compilations I’ve seen just in time for Australia Day. Why’s it so good? Because it’s 100% homegrown, and no one rocks harder than Aussies!

50 Years of Australian Rock & Roll is a three-disc set charting the history of the local rock scene. That should keep the whole family happy: Mum and Dad can bop along to Johnny O’Keefe and The Deltones while the kids rock out to some Wolfmother and Eskimo Joe.

Watching the promo video’s made me pretty excited about this release. We can all get our hands on 50 Years of Australian Rock & Roll when it hits stores on January 26.
