“SEND HELP” – YDE

YDE is one of those people that makes you question what you’ve been doing with your life. She was starring in the Nickelodeon series The Haunted Hathaways at nine and went on to feature in School of Rock, Malibu Rescue, and the live production of WILD: A Musical alongside absolute icon Idina Menzel. She’s currently writing songs with Justin Tranter and Teddy Geiger, she’s received cosigns from Justin Bieber and Drake, and Teen Vogue and Billboard are talking about her. Not bad for a 19-year-old born in Sydney. With the recent release of her debut EP SEND HELP, she’s sure to cement her reputation as a serious talent.

We’ve all seen those young starlets who generate plenty of buzz but seem to lack substance. Rest assured; YDE is the real deal. I flipped over recent singles “Old Her” and “People Can Change,” two tracks that showed her diversity. There are more gems on this EP though. From the clap-along upbeat pop of “Never Too Young” to the introspective ballads “Normal to Feel” and the new single “Uncomfortable,” YDE shows she’s an immense talent with plenty to say.

While it’s called EP, at nine tracks it seems more like a mini album. YDE wrote the songs and served as executive producer, ensuring she retained creative control. The result is a collection of songs that reveal so much about this young talent while leaving us wanting more. Believe the hype. YDE is a bright light on the pop scene.

YDE Releases Beautiful Ballad “People Can Change”

It was just a month ago that I was raving about YDE’s single “Old Her.” Now she’s back with a brand-new single that shows off a more sensitive, softer side. “People Can Change” is a masterclass in restraint, a stripped-back ballad that addresses the difficult times we live in with optimism for what’s to come.

“‘People Can Change’ is an honest conversation with myself about how I can maintain hope for the future,” YDE says. “We are facing immense division and only through conscious growth and change will we find our way through together.”

YDE’s debut project SEND HELP is out soon. It’s sure to cement her reputation as one of the most exciting local exports around.

YDE Makes Her Mark With “Old Her”

Aussie-born, US-based artist YDE has really impressed me with her latest single “Old Her”. With insightful lyrics and a fresh sound, I can’t stop listening. At 19 she’s probably too young for an existential crisis, but I’m buying it!

“‘Old Her’ is my perspective on growing up and feeling like life never gets easier,” YDE explained. “Each verse is a real-time reflection from different chapters of life that all point back to the sarcastic conclusion that ignorance is bliss.”

She’s not even out of her teens yet, but YDE has already accomplished so much. She had starring roles in the Nickelodeon series The Haunted Hathaways and School of Rock and Netflix’s Malibu Rescue. She also starred alongside Broadway queen Idina Menzel in the live production, WILD: A Musical Becoming. Past singles “BlindLife” and “Stopped Buying Diamonds” got the attention of Drake and Justin Bieber. Now “Old Her” sets the stage for YDE’s debut album, which drops later this year.
