Younger Than Me Drop Exquisite Single, “With Every Heartbeat”

Eora/Sydney duo Younger than Me have given me goosebumps with their latest single “With Every Heartbeat.” To call it beautiful doesn’t even begin to cover it. Their stunning harmonies, creativity, and talent shine through in technicolour. Take a moment to stop what you’re doing, block the rest of the world out, and just listen. I promise you that you won’t want to miss a detail.

“With Every Heartbeat” comes with a gorgeous music video shot on 16mm film in southern lutruwita/Tasmania by the super-talented video artist and cinematographer Ursula Woods.

“Ursula is based in one of those corners of the world that is almost too magical to exist,” the duo said. “We woke up each morning to the sound of water lapping under the converted boat shed that we slept in, and spent the day frolicking outside and making shapes together in the landscape. It embodied everything we tried to create through sound in the track, and it could not have been more perfect.”

Younger Than Me are working towards releasing a debut album. With every single release so strong, you can beat it’ll be something special.

Younger Than Me Drops Exquisite New Single “Right Way”

I love artists that keep me guessing. I’m never sure what I will get when Eora/Sydney duo Younger Than Me releases new music, but it’s always exciting. Their latest single “Right Way” is a sublime track that showcases their otherworldly vocal harmonies and gift for layering unique sounds and loops.

“I think it’s the first track that we wrote as one, rather than each bringing different parts to the table,” they mused. “We began to let go of preconceived ideas of our songwriting and to record more intuitively together. We ended up with something we would never have expected to come out of us!”

If you want to hear something truly different today, look no further. Then treat yourself to an exploration of Younger Than Me’s back catalogue. Full of twists and turns, it’s some of the most surprising and beautiful music coming out of New South Wales at the moment.

Younger Than Me Delights With “Robomash”

After impressing me a couple of months ago with “Hallucination,” Younger Than Me has charmed me again with “Robomash.” It’s another piece of experimental pop music that is totally enchanting. It’s a real gift to create music that’s out of the box, yet so appealing. When you take risks invariably you’ll fall short from time to time, yet it seems like this Eora/Sydney duo can’t put a foot wrong. It’s so exciting.

Emma Davis said the song was inspired by a time when the duo wasn’t sure their music dreams would get off the ground. “It was a time where Annie [McKinnon] was trying to juggle her interaction design with teaching, music and everything else that comes with life, and I think it just all felt too much,” she explained. “We’ve never wanted this project to feel like a burden so it’s been so important to be honest and try to fit it into life in a way that works.”

Thankfully, all’s well that ends well. After losing themselves in a day of recording, Emma and Annie agreed to stop stressing about the outcome and take things as they came. They shared a bottle of red, or maybe more, and created this track to celebrate their collaboration, friendship, and belief that things always work out in the end.

“It’s the first track where we let go a little and started to trust ourselves more as producers” Annie added. “We stopped being so afraid of trying weird things, so there are lots of wacky synths, and vocal sounds acting as drum beats that somehow find their place. I think it’s a good precursor of what’s to come.”

After they’ve released such beautiful and unique singles, I can’t help wondering what’s next for Younger Than Me. But rather than focusing on the future, I’m going to take a lesson from them and just sit with this gorgeous track for a while.

Younger Than Me Does Things Differently With “Hallucination”

Eora/Sydney duo Younger Than Me has just dropped their beautiful new single “Hallucination,” and you’ll want to hear it. An experimental pop masterpiece, it’s truly hypnotic listening to the duo’s dreamy harmonies and the pretty melodies of flutes and mellotron.

“I’d just got home from a rehearsal with Em [Davis],” said Annie McKinnon, the other half of the talented duo, on the track. “I flopped onto my bed, pulled out my microkorg and started singing this story. I had an image of someone in a desert, standing on a porch, and longing for an old lover. A strange weather event hits, a huge flood of water and colour and they turn into a creature, escaping longing through fantasy”.

Another self-recorded and self-produced effort, this track shows Younger Than Me are an exciting act taking control of their creative destiny.
