I’ve got goosebumps this morning listening to “Puppet,” the latest single from Melbourne electronic act Youthfire. This is really stunning stuff, minimalist with beautiful, haunting vocals. Tune out everything else and let it wash over you.
“Puppet” is the first track from Youthfire’s self-titled debut EP, which we’ll hear this November.

Youthfire Spellbinding with “Leave”
Youthfire are one of the most exciting young bands making music out of Brisbane at the moment. With their latest single “Leave,” the follow-up to “World on Fire,” they have created an incredible lush soundscape that’s ideal for kicking back and decompressing from the stresses of the working week.
I love the way that the delicate vocals from Stephen Carmichael and James Walker interplay with the cello, synthesiser, electric guitar, and percussion. It’s an unusual blend of instruments but somehow these guys make it sound like they were meant to be together.
“Leave” is officially released next Tuesday, but you can have a sneaky listen here early. What do you think?
Youthfire Prepare to set the “World on Fire”
Over the years I’ve really loved watching the musical journey of Brisbane electro-pop prince Carmichael. He’s developing his sound with a new outfit called Youthfire these days, and it seems its paying dividends.
Our first taste is the delicious single “World on Fire,” a stirring, primal number with tribal drums, retro synths, and lush vocals.
You can learn more this exciting new project when Youthfire launch “World on Fire” at Brisbane’s Metro Arts Theatre on June 20.
