Ziggy Alberts Releases “Feeling Blue” Ahead of International Shows

I love when artists release songs from albums you love and remind you just how good they are. I’m always looking forward to the next thing I vibe with, so often I forget to revisit what’s revved me in the past. But “Feeling Blue” by Ziggy Alberts, lifted from his fabulous seventh studio album New Love, is back on my radar and I couldn’t be happier about it. This song is thick with wisdom. Make sure you catch every lyric, because it contains some real pearls.

“I started writing this song in June 2023 while I was in Europe on break in between tour legs,” Ziggy recalled. “I remember working on it a lot in Ericeira, Portugal, and Biarritz, France. The opening line says it all: ‘I’m not convinced in all the ways I’ve been living now.’ It’s about being really unhappy – and if you didn’t listen to the lyrics carefully, you maybe wouldn’t know, because the song is really upbeat and positive in every other aspect. That contrast really reflects where I was at the time – a paradox of emotions / in the balance of opposites. In many ways, it’s one of the most honest songs I’ve written – just calling out my thoughts and feelings as they were. I’m thankful to have come through some of the personal challenges I was facing then.”

“New Love” – Ziggy Alberts

Ziggy Alberts has crammed an awful lot into his 14 years in the music industry. He’s won APRA Awards, racked up more than a billion streams, and played shows all over the world. While others may be daunted through their journey, it seems like nothing phases Ziggy. His signature chill shines through his recently released seventh album, New Love.

I’ve always appreciated Ziggy’s music, but this collection of songs is the first I’ve really taken into my heart. I think it’s the focus on relationships and romance that resonates most. Easy love songs make up the bulk of the music here, and they’re beautiful. It’s refreshing to hear songs about love that’s uncomplicated and without drama. As a 40-something who’s spent decades with the one man, songs like “I’m With You” and “Confessions”. And even if your personal life looks different, hearing the heartfelt lyrics delivered with such emotional sincerity brings comfort.

Ziggy punctuates his beautiful music with philosophical insights that might sound naff coming from someone else. But coming from this Kabi Kabi and Jinibara Country/Sunshine Coast-raised talent, it just makes sense.

New Love is such an enjoyable listen. Its songs are mellow and gentle, without sharp edges. Ziggy’s voice and the strum of his acoustic guitar will soothe you. Great art doesn’t always need to challenge the listener or the status quo. Sometimes, as is the case with this album, simply making listeners feel good is enough.

New Love is out now. Ziggy is playing plenty of shows around Australia and beyond to support its release but tickets are selling out fast, so get yours while you can.

Ziggy Alberts Releases New Folk Love Song, “I’m With You”

As we inch closer to the release of his New Love album, Ziggy Alberts has dropped another romantic folk ditty for your listening pleasure. His new single “I’m With You” is another beautiful song that celebrates being with the right person.

“Love in its purest form, has a way of bringing us back to ourselves. This song is about embracing that with open arms,” Ziggy said. “Sometimes we are blinded by desire when some things are right in front of us. It’s a really, truly happy song; it’s not even sentimental; it’s simply happy-go-lucky, which I love.”

You can hear more from Ziggy when he releases New Love on February 21. He’ll hit the ground running playing some local shows from release day through to early April before heading to North America, Europe, and the UK. They’re all selling out left and right, so if you want to get along make sure you grab some tickets soon.

Ziggy Alberts Releases “Singing for Country” Ahead of New Album & Homecoming Tour

Ziggy Alberts is easing you into your working week with his latest single, “Singing for Country.” This patriotic, chilled-out folk song is the latest track from Ziggy’s forthcoming seventh album New Love which drops on February 21.

“I wrote ‘Singing For Country’ along the Mid-North Coast of Australia. It’s a song about what it means to be Australian, to love this land and our planet. For me, being Australian is about embracing a unique mix of cultures on this sunburnt land,” Ziggy explained. “This song was my way of celebrating what and how it feels to be Australian. I performed this song across my tour in Europe, UK and North America and despite it being about my love for Australia, people really connected to it. I think that for anyone who loves the natural beauty of their homeland will relate and feel camaraderie in this too. It speaks to the core reason I write songs; to sing and celebrate people and nature.”

Ziggy has played plenty of shows all over the world, but he’ll be back home in February with gigs in the capitals and regional centres supporting New Love’s release.

“After being on tour all year, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of coming home,” he said. “You don’t realise how much you love a place until you’re back, breathing it in again. There’s something raw and grounding about being back on home soil, smelling the bottlebrush, and returning to the ocean. Originally, this song was just going to be part of the album, but when I got back home, that visceral feeling reminded me how important it was to share it as a single ahead of summer. I’m grateful my team helped make it happen.”

Ziggy Alberts Releases Acoustic Charmer, “Where Does the Love Go?”

Ziggy Alberts has thoroughly charmed me with his gorgeous new single “Where Does the Love Go?” I’m not sure whether I love its laidback acoustic vibes or insightful lyrics that ruminate on the importance of self-love more!

“It’s a song I wrote about wondering where does the love go, when it’s not us? It’s a question I was asking myself when I was feeling a lack of self-love,” Ziggy explained. “Now that I’ve thought about it more, I think love disappears unless we embody it. And it is the responsibility of humanity, wherever possible, to keep it alive.”

“Where Does the Love Go?” comes bundled with a couple more tracks from Ziggy’s forthcoming album New Love, which drops on February 21. Listening to them all has definitely made me anticipate this release. Ziggy has a few shows coming up in Japan, but hopefully it won’t be too long before he’s playing shows for local audiences.
